Antibody Testing

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

Elizabeth Tanner provides this update:

Horrible news please pray! UCLA needs a last minute test to determine if they can even proceed with the transplants, it is a antibody test. We’ve been informed they may not accept him as a patient.

So I am dumbfounded…

I have been told they do not know if he will be a candidate for a transplant. So, please pray that he is accepted. The reason they are questioning the fact that he has fissures that make it not a possibility.

Lastly, please consider stopping by our Community Bake Sale Fundraiser, all proceeds go to The Aaron Tanner Heart Foundation. Sale is being held at: 408 Pinenut street Oakley, from 9-2 p.m. Play in our Jumpee, Sno Cones, Cotton candy…

The Move to UCLA!

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

Things are taking a faster pace than we had ever expected. Aaron has suffered some setbacks and his heart is not able to keep up. His heart is not pumping strong enough.

The doctors at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) are preparing Aaron to be medflighted or by ambulance to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), we will be going – they think next week. I am so worried about it all.

Since Aaron is on Milrinone, he will not come off of it, he will be very high up there on the list to receive his organs.

I will continue to have faith and I pray for strength for our family to be able to support Aaron right now. We were not prepared to go this fast, but we must do whatever it will take.

We have been told that UCLA takes the most difficult cases for transplant the ones that others would reject; Aaron is going to the best possible place. Somehow it is all happening this way. The doctor Aaron will have in UCLA – Juan Alejos, is world renown for his transplant surgeries.

If it was just his heart most places would not even accept him, so he has the fact that he is going to UCLA in his favor. He is in the fight now. So, I am praying he is not giving up. We are not giving up!
