The Move to UCLA!

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

Things are taking a faster pace than we had ever expected. Aaron has suffered some setbacks and his heart is not able to keep up. His heart is not pumping strong enough.

The doctors at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) are preparing Aaron to be medflighted or by ambulance to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), we will be going – they think next week. I am so worried about it all.

Since Aaron is on Milrinone, he will not come off of it, he will be very high up there on the list to receive his organs.

I will continue to have faith and I pray for strength for our family to be able to support Aaron right now. We were not prepared to go this fast, but we must do whatever it will take.

We have been told that UCLA takes the most difficult cases for transplant the ones that others would reject; Aaron is going to the best possible place. Somehow it is all happening this way. The doctor Aaron will have in UCLA – Juan Alejos, is world renown for his transplant surgeries.

If it was just his heart most places would not even accept him, so he has the fact that he is going to UCLA in his favor. He is in the fight now. So, I am praying he is not giving up. We are not giving up!

Pray for Aaron!

Monday, August 17th, 2009

God is going to hear many prayers from me today! I am asking him specifically to help Aaron feel the strength and the power of everyone’s prayers for him. And to help him get past this setback he’s having this week.

I want to see him happy and walking around with his big smile on his face.

There are still no changes to his condition. The bleeding, fast heart rate, and high respirations are still a problem.

I will have faith and continue praying. Please pray with me!

Struggle Inspires Many

Saturday, August 15th, 2009

You don’t know me … my name is Paul Asay, and I write a blog for Purpose Driven Connection — part of Rick Warren’s ministry (he wrote the Purpose Driven Life a while back).

The blog, called Body Parts, is really designed to keep tabs on what the body of Christ is doing around the world. The good, the bad and the ugly. And every week, I try to give a little online “award” to someone who’s quietly making a difference. It’s called the O.J. Award — named after the Bible’s “other James” (a.k.a. James the Lesser), a guy who one can assume did fantastic work even though he didn’t get lots of notoriety.

I’d like to honor Aaron and your family with this award this week: Your story is almost unbearably sad — but inspiring, I think, for those who ask where God is during the toughest of times.

Let me not kid you: This is a small blog with a small readership … the ABC story will reach far more folks than my little online scribblings do. But, I’d like to think that your story will touch our readers and, perhaps, a few might be moved enough to send a bit of money your way.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all!

Catheterization Update

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Aaron is back safe in his bed in 7 North at UCSF. He had to go to the ICU afterwards for recovery. What would have been such a simple test for most — was so complicated. Your prayers and well wishes are helping him be stronger. Tomorrow he has his surgery for placement of the dialysis.
